Two years ago today, the Cyclone Project was launched, a program by the Athanasios C. Laskaridis Charitable Foundation aimed at tackling pollution in mainland Greece through large-scale initiatives and a daily presence in the field.
Two years later, the program has expanded significantly, with three teams operating daily across the country. To date, cleanups have been carried out at 75 archaeological sites, 70 rural roads, 46 rivers, and 5 lakes, removing over 1,800,000 kilograms of waste – a volume equivalent to 441 containers!
The Cyclone Project was created with the goal of tackling pollution at its root. Through daily fieldwork, data collection, and partnerships with local organizations, it makes a substantial contribution to understanding and addressing the issue.
