This year, we celebrated World Environment Day in Pylos with activities in the field! As part of the "Clean Messinia" program, we joined forces with the Captain Vassilis and Carmen Constantakopoulos Foundation, Costa Navarino, and Save Your Hood for two major cleanup actions in the area.
With more than 200 volunteers, we removed over 8 tons of waste from land and sea. In the port and Niokastro, more than 9,000 items were collected – mainly cigarette butts, microplastics, and packaging, while more than 600 items were retrieved from the underwater cleanup, including tires, metal, ropes, and plastics.
The main contributor to the effort was the “Cyclone Project”, which has been cleaning up Messinia for months, helping to protect its natural and cultural wealth.
