The Athanasios C. Laskaridis Charitable Foundation has made a donation for the reconstruction of the “AKROTIRI” outpost in Lesbos, contributing to the improvement of living conditions for personnel serving in one of the country’s most remote regions.
The inauguration took place on Monday, June 15, 2026, in the presence of the Chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff, General Dimitrios Houpis, representatives of the State, religious authorities, local government, the Armed Forces, and local organizations.
The reconstruction of the outpost is part of the Foundation’s overall approach to initiatives with a meaningful social impact and sustainability. For the Foundation, supporting infrastructure that improves the daily lives people in critical positions of responsibility is a concrete contribution to the common good.
The “AKROTIRI” outpost is dedicated to the memory of the sculptor Athanasios Limnaios, who is related to the founder of the Foundation, Athanasios C. Laskaridis, lending the donation a special personal symbolism.
During the ceremony, the Chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff warmly thanked the family of Athanasios C. Laskaridis for their longstanding contribution to the Armed Forces and referred to the Foundation’s broader work, with special mention of its environmental programs and the Typhoon Project.
The Foundation’s President, Ms. Evi Lazou-Laskaridis, stated: “Supporting such projects is not just about infrastructure. It is about the people who serve in remote areas every day and need a space that is dignified, functional, and humane.”
